Easashi Town used to be a economic and political center of Matsumae Clan in the Edo Period. The cycle tour course along the coast of the Tsurgaru Strait and Sea of Japan includes Esash and the Cape Shirakami that is the southern most point of Hokkaido on the way and abounds in historical and natural amusements.
